Sorry Everybody

the babe war

 tiny fragments
 of imperfection

if i knew all the letters, i could spell my name. (jason mraz, 0% talent)

i'm lamer than my fans give me credit for (john mayer, lamer than my fans)

i bare my windowed self, untamed and untalented . . . (jason mraz)

don't try to tune my guitar, i'm tone deaf (evanescence, goodbye)

see, you and me have a better time when the radio is off (DuMB, the best of what's around)

There's something in the way you sing that makes me feel ill, your lyrics confuse me, you and your thesis abuse my brain . . . after an afternoon with you my ears bleed red (jason mraz, after an afternoon of bad music)

Your music weighs on me as heavy as stone . . . I was just wondering if you'd come along to hold up my hair in the bathroom after I listen to your album . . . I'll do the same if the same's what you want . . . (DuMB, the stoner)

You Are A: Bear Cub!

bear cubBears are strong and independent creatures who roam in the forest in search of food. Bears are usually gentle, but anger one and be prepared for their full fury! You're big, you have a bit of a temper -- classic attributes of a bear. Intelligent and resourceful, though lazy at times, you are a fascinating creature of the wild.

You were almost a: Duckling or a Duck
You are least like a: Chipmunk or a PuppyWhat Cute Animal Are You?

i flew up to ND for some depos the next two days, and the plane was virtually empty -- who'da thunk no one would be coming up here at 10:00 p.m. in the middle of the week -- so i got upgraded to first class -- i don't know how i'll ever go back to coach -- it must be like how the other sarahk feels when she's in coach -- lots of leg room, big seats -- cool!

V-SarahK, v. 1.0 BETA!

Japanese company Artificial Life recently announced that it was releasing version 2.0 of V-Girl. A massive hit in Asian countries, V-Girl involves a synthetic girlfriend with routines the player watches and becomes involved in. There is an ever-evolving daily and weekly schedule which includes visiting your V-Girl's virtual home, work or bar, and shopping with her virtual girlfriends.

That gave me an idea--why not apply this concept to our very own SarahK! With SarahK coming off the market in December, this is the only way that her mountaineermusing and IMAO fans can partake of "the SarahK experience." The IMAO crew has been working day and night to write the code for V-SarahK, and we are finally ready with our beta release. So, I give you . . .

guest blogger sizzle!

hi, i'm guest blogger sizzle. many of you know that i have been in florida visiting the real sarahk. most, however, don't know that i have been doing research for my new book on the culniary delights of the space coast. i've completed my book, and the real sarahk has been generous enough to allow me to plug it here and post a brief excerpt. i hope you enjoy it, and it will be available on amazon.com starting august 15, 2005.

Whether you are a resident or guest of the great state of Florida, you can be certain there is a restaurant serving exactly what you are hungry for. Florida cuisine is probably one of the most unique and diverse in the world. The rich exchange of multicultural cuisines began when Ponce de Leon first staked a claim for Spain in 1513. Early Native American, Spanish, and European styles were significantly influenced by ingredients and flavors brought by the Africans in the sixteenth century, and by early Anglo-American settlers from regions north of Florida. Through the years, Florida's basic Spanish and Southern cuisines have continued to blend with a wide range of cultures. In the early 1900s Jewish communities grew, and in 1959 the first of several migrations of Cuban refugees added yet another new cuisine. Bahamians, Haitians, Nicaraguans, Vietnamese, and many more ethnic groups continue to influence the local flavors, making it one of the country's most interesting regional cuisines. Nowhere is the variety greater than along Florida's "Space Coast" near Melbourne.

If its exquisite Florida cuisine and entertainment you're longing for, then you're sure to love the Quizno's Sub at 1301 S. Babcock Street. This restaurant features a huge collection of fresh baked sandwiches, and several varieties of soup. This restaurant has the best clam chowder this side of Boston!

Refresh the mind and renew the spirit with a trip to Hardee's at 3992 S. Babcock St. It serves one of the most unique dishes I've ever experienced! They take a bun, and then put ham and melted cheese on it! You have to take the time to let your olfactories play with the aroma before consumption ensues. All your senses get a workout here.

Enjoy your entree indoors or while watching the sunset at the Burger King at 1514 S Harbor City Blvd. This restaurant ranks number two on my top Florida seafood restaurants list. The fish sandwich is to die for. I highly recommend getting it with a slice of cheese.

The award winning Subway restaurant at 1500 S Babcock St. offers something for everyone. It's a shame that I have to travel 1300 miles to have a lip smacking tuna sandwich, but I have to admit it would be worth the trip at twice that distance!

Most people don't know that Florida is one of the top fruit producers in the country, and there is nothing like fruit right off the tree. You can experience this delicacy at the McDonald's at 25 W Hibiscus Blvd. by ordering their fruit and walnut salad. The dipping sauce has a distinctly Floridian taste that all can readily appreciate.

If you're craving fresh off the hook seafood, experience the charm and intimate ambiance of Long John Silver's at 1180 S Babcock Street. The setting here is quite intimate and I was told by locals "in the know" that the first time you visit it you should sit near the front and observe the preparation. The variety overwhelmed me at first, but I finally settled on a number 3 combo meal with a side of hush puppies. Oh, by the way, you get what you pay for so just be aware that fish prepared with great care and effort does not come cheap, and you will want to show your appreciation with a healthy tip. I will just say that it's worth it.

Forget Chicago and Manhattan—if you want to experience pure pizza bliss, you need to visit the Domino's Pizza at 312 W. New Haven Ave. The hand rolled dough is unlike any other in the country, and the Italian sausage is so spicy you'll be begging for a pitcher of water!

The upscale Sonic Drive-in at 555 S Babcock St offers elegant dishes including tator tots and Sonic burgers. As you enter the doors a cornucopia of finely prepared dishes will overwhelm your senses. Everywhere you look in and around this eating spot you see wild and wacky personality, which is the same way the food is served and prepared.

A fun place to shop for delicious freshly prepared and unusual entrees is the Denny's at 420 S Harbor City Blvd. I highly recommend the spaghetti for an authentic Italian-style meal. I have to say I found the people who own and operate this restaurant pleasant and genuine. It's so local that you feel like part of an extended family and they do all they can to ensure you get everything you need.

A trip to the deep south wouldn't be the same without a visit to an authentic chicken shack. For that, visit the KFC at 2120 W. New Haven Ave. Instead of rolling their chicken in corn flakes and salt, they use a special breading recipe unique to this area. You've never had chicken like this—I guarantee it!

For authentic Spanish cuisine, you can't do better than Taco Bell at 2035 W New Haven Ave. I've heard that the recipe for their 7 layer burrito was brought to the New World by Christopher Columbus and handed down generation to generation until the present day! Top off your meal with the sweet sensation of cinnamon twists, which I have on good authority were developed by nuns at a local mission in the 16 th century.

You haven't lived until you have experienced the sweet sensation of local favorite Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at 2040 N Wickham Rd. Using a secret recipe, this bakery brings in people from all over the country for a sweet taste of heaven. The person in line behind me had ridden all the way from Mobile, Alabama on a bike with a flat tire to partake of their succulent fare!

Although most of my culinary choices have been pretty obscure, I'm not afraid to visit the more mainstream eateries. For example, the IHOP at 4455 W New Haven Ave. is always a must stop when I'm traveling through this region. To my knowledge, this is the only IHOP that serves blueberry-flavored syrup—a concept so revolutionary that it is bound to spread across the country!

With such a wide variety of Florida fine dining options, you're sure to find the Florida cuisine that is perfect for you. Bon Appetit!

rollerskating spiders

this morning i woke up hearing something rolling around on the kitchen tile, and i kept thinking, in my morning fog, about Ron Weasley’s boggart in the 3rd Harry Potter movie, the huge spider, which Ron makes Riddikulus! by putting roller skates on it.

turns out it was Sydney batting around a golf ball.

the chair

while documenting the office clean up last week i thought "i should say something about the chair" i love it so much. i bought it at an antique sale. anyhoo, it's had a few different owners. i keep meaning to research the maker, i think the company is still in business(can't remember the name off the top of my head) but ten dollars! yay! that's the best part. so little for such a sense of nostalgia. i wish i could put my finger on what it makes me think of, but i can't. i just really like it, it makes me happy.
